(Areas of practice are nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist and certified nurse midwife.) Applicants for Nevada's certificate of recognition as an APN must: 1) Meet all requirements for Registered Nurse licensure (have an active RN license). 2) Have a master's degree from an accredited school in nursing or a related health field approved by the board. Applicants for APN certification by endorsement (if the program was completed after June 1, 2005) must have a master's degree in nursing or a related health field. Additionally, if the applicant has not worked 800 hours in APN practice during the past 5 years, and has not completed a nurse practitioner education program in the preceding 2 years, he or she must work 1,000 hours under the supervision of a qualified physician or Nevada certified APN upon receipt of APN certification. For those applicants applying for certification by endorsement who completed an APN program prior to June 1, 2005, modified requirements apply. Visit the Board's website for more information. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: application/initial certificate--$200; biennial certificate renewal (RN+APN)--$300.
