This site answers one question: does this job need a licence in this state, and who issues it?

Every record comes from the CareerOneStop occupational licence flat export. The data is collected from the states by the Analyst Resource Center. The file used here is dated October 2024 and contains 11,739 state licences after merging exact duplicates.
Each page shows only what the state reported. Where a field was reported as undetermined, it is left out. We do not add fees, exams, courses, or passing scores that are not in the file.
Limits
- Coverage is uneven. Not every state submits a full list, so a missing record does not mean a job is unlicensed.
- Some records have not been updated in years. Pages updated before 2022 carry a warning.
- Nothing here is legal advice. Confirm with the issuing board before applying.
How we process the data
- Each record shows only what the state reported. Where a field was reported as undetermined, it is left out — nothing is guessed or filled in.
- Exact duplicates — records identical in every field — are merged into one page; their old addresses redirect to it.
- Records in the same state that share a title but differ in any detail are kept separate and linked to each other, with a note on what differs.
- Licence titles reported in all capitals are shown in title case; the wording itself is unchanged.
- Duplicate licence titles within a state get a suffix so every page has its own address.
- Records last updated before 2022 carry a warning to confirm details with the board.
- A state missing from an occupation page has not reported a licence for that occupation in this dataset. It does not mean the job is unlicensed there.

How to verify a licence
Every licence page lists the issuing body: the board's name, address, phone, and website where the state reported them. Use those contacts — or the licence page link when the state provided one — to confirm requirements, fees, and current rules before you apply. Records updated before 2022 should always be confirmed.
